The snow flakes were fairly large as they floated down to the
silent world that a heavy fall of snow brings to our land.

It was a rather peaceful scene as I stood at my lounge window looking out at the snow
and wondering what this new year that was ahead of us had in store for my wife and me.

The previous year that had just passed and we had said goodbye to had been a difficult one for us, but we were becoming used to difficult years, in fact it had been some time since we had experienced a year free of heavy problems.
God obviously wanted us to gain experience from all the frustrations and setbacks we had endured, and which thankfully, we were able to accept. We endured all that was coming our way.
It hadn't been easy but we had survived yet another year and we hoped this brand new year would be the "Peace Year", the year that would be a new beginning for us.

As I stood there still looking out of the window something caught my eye on the rooftop of the house on the other side of the road from us. Something other than, and larger than the snowflakes had floated down onto the roof opposite. As I looked closer I thought my eyes were deceiving me when I realized that what had caught my attention was a beautiful white dove and it had just floated down out of the sky. It walked down the slope of the roof, stopped at the guttering and stood there facing my direction.
I called my wife to come and have a look. As we both stood there the dove never moved, it stood motionless just looking over at us, then after what seemed like an age but was probably just about a minute, it turned round, walked back up the roof then flew up into the still falling snow and out of sight. It was an amazing experience.

I turned to my wife and said "you know, I think this is going to be our year", because I knew that the dove (of peace) was sent as a sign from God. A sign that we were to hang on in there as things were going to get better for us.
And you know, things did get better, not overnight or over weeks, but over the year things began to slowly improve noticeably for us and it turned out to be a good year as far as problems were concerned.

The following year proved to be even better, and we have never looked back since. So if the dove of peace comes to visit you, rejoice, as he may only appear once in your lifetime, and if you have heavy problems, look forward to a brighter future.
