Ask God For Protection.
At the break of our own personal day, as we arise out of bed, it's well worth asking God for His protection throughout the next twenty four hours.I'm sure most people would agree with that statement.
However, as we hand over our lives to God, many people stop at that point, but that's not the end of the matter...it's only the beginning.
Yes, it's only the beginning.
You see, as we progress through our day we ourselves have a responsable role to play . What good is it asking for God's protection during the next twenty four hours if we ourselves don't take reasonable care and responsible actions for our own safety. Is God going to protect us if, for instance, we nonchalantly walk across a busy road with our head down reading the morning newspaper expecting God to divert the traffic either side of us .
He may let us off the hook and protect us the first time we take a stupid action like that, but if we continue to act so irresponsably God is going to have to teach us a lesson, just as any father would wish to teach his own children a lesson, all be it the hard way.
Here's a better example of what I mean.
You're late for an important appointment so you decide to take the car rather than risk finding the train or bus running late also, but wait, you suddenly remember you didn't take your car to the tyre shop last week to have the offside tyre replaced as the front tyre's tread has worn away, in fact part of the tread is so bald it's bordering on being illegal.
To make matters worse the rain is starting to pour down. You look up at the sky and realize the clouds and the rain are there for the day making driving conditions atrocious. But you jump in and drive off anyway, ignoring the worn tyre.
Now you're moving along the motorway with the foot down and you're just above the speed limit when another car nips in in front of you.
Yip, that's right, you've to suddenly slam on the breaks. Your car goes into a skid and you smash head-on into an oncoming car. Your car's a wreck, smashed beyond recognition. (as you are also) The other driver is in deep shock, but is miraculously uninjured. You're alive but only just. Why didn't God protect you, why...why...why. It was only a couple of hours ago that you asked for protection, why did you allow this to happen to me God. Well I guess the answer's kinda obvious.
There's just a little bit more to this scenario however.... God didn't let you die, you survived.
However, you have to take responsability for your actions by facing up to the police charges and fine you receive for being the cause of the accident due to your worn tyre.
So you see, we too have a huge role to play when we ask God for protection.
