Forgiveness.
Do you know you can go back to God time and time again
regarding the same sin and He will forgive you?
You can you know.
You can go back seventy seven times if necessary !!!!
How do I know this to be true ?
Well, I will answer that question, but first let me explain how it works.
God will not get annoyed or fed up with you for going back to Him time and again praying for forgiveness regarding the same sin you just cannot overcome.
He won't sigh and get fed up with you repeatedly calling upon Him to forgive you regarding that same sin.
No..He wants us to go back to Him asking for the strength to overcome a particular problematic sin that is bothering us but, in order for us to go confidently back to Him time and time again on our knees in prayer with the fore-knowledge that we will be forgiven, we must firstly be trying with our whole heart and entire being to overcome the sin in question.
We have to be aware however, this inconparable gracious facility God has provided us with does not mean we have authority to purposely, and or, intentionally commit the same sin time and again with the knowledge that we can go back and ask God for forgiveness every time we wish to deliberately sin
Far from it, do that, and we commit an almost unpardonable sin.
Ok then, how do I know how many times we can ask God for forgiveness for the same sin.
Well, you may already know the answer, but it's good to read it again.
In Matthew 18:21 it says that Peter went to Jesus and asked, "Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?"
Now then, look at Jesus' reply to Peter in the next verse....
Jesus answered, "I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.
So if Jesus was telling Peter he must forgive seventy-seven times, it follows, then, that the same instruction applies to us also i.e we forgive seventy seven times and we are forgiven seventy seven times.
(or seventy times seven)
