You have misplaced your wallet or your purse and for the last hour you have been frantically looking around your house for it.
You had it in the newsagent when you purchased a newspaper but you are sure you brought it home with you and left it absentmindedly somewhere in the house, but you've had no success in finding it. You're getting a bit frantic now as you have a fair amount of money along with credit cards inside it and you are beginning to doubt if you did actually replace it back in your pocket or handbag after you bought your newspaper.
What on earth are you going to do now.
OK, mentally retrace your steps from when you were standing in the newsagent. However, you've retraced your steps three times already and your memory leads you back to having it when you came home.
You are exasperated but you're beginning to doubt yourself even more now. You even went back to the shop to check you hadn't left it on the counter...no success.
You are going to have to think again and make sure you haven't left out any detail, but you are sure you have thought of every last detail, except where you placed it in your house.
Are you absolutely certain about that? Are you certain you have thought of everything, are you sure you haven't forgotten something?
Well, here's something you may have forgotten, have you asked God to help you find it? NO!! then ask Him now and He will help you.
Time and again we may slip into a panic over something and forget all about asking God for His help. You may think that although this is a very serious situation for you, it will be too trivial a matter to ask God for help in solving. However if you ask Him in absolute belief and faith, He will indeed help you. My wife and I have taught our three children to do this and it works.
It's a good idea though to speak to God right at the beginning of an episode such as this, telling Him you are going to do your best to (in this instance ) find the missing item yourself first, mentioning you may have to come back and really ask for His help.
As I said, talk to God at the beginning of an episode such as this example. Do your utmost to resolve the problem yourself, then, if you are unsuccessful go and ask God for help.
Why would you not ask for serious help before you start? Well that's because God likes you to do your bit in the first instance. You may have found the wallet or purse on your own anyway, but you know you can always go to God if things are becoming really worrying. And remember you would have talked to God at the beginning of this dilemma had you remembered to include Him in your problem in the beginning.
All very basic stuff; but sometimes we forget.
